Food and Beverage Assistant Manager Job Purpose:

Supervises activities and staff in assigned food venue

Food and Beverage Assistant Manager Job Duties and Responsibilities:

(Note: Duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted, or changed at the sole discretion of Sycuan Management at any time)

  • Supervises Food & Beverage activities and staff in assigned venue by attending organizational and departmental meetings, providing pertinent information to assigned staff, collaborating with the Food & Beverage Manager to create staff schedules based on business needs, supervising and monitoring team member production and service delivery, ensuring policies and procedures are followed, processing voids and check corrections, providing guidance and direction to staff as needed, ensuring supplies and food products are stocked and available when needed, and working off-site events as assigned. - 45%
  • Promotes guest service by monitoring service delivery, ensuring service standards are met, proactively speaking with guests, proactively resolving guest concerns, and referring complex problems to the Food & Beverage Manager for resolution. - 25%
  • Develops team members by establishing a positive standard as a role model to others, fostering open communication and cooperation between management, team members, and departments, monitoring team member performance, providing direct, constructive and consistent feedback, conducting performance appraisals, and providing counseling, guidance and corrective action as needed. - 10%
  • Maintains safe and sanitary kitchen and storage areas by monitoring sanitation duties of staff, ensuring team members complete cleaning duties and comply with all safety rules, and assisting staff as needed. - 10%
  • Ensures responsible alcohol beverage service policies are followed in assigned food venue by asking for proper identification from guests who appear to be under the age of 30, monitoring alcohol consumption, stopping alcohol service according to established procedures, and clearing the room of all alcoholic containers, glasses and bottles at the established designated time. - 5%
  • In the absence of the Food & Beverage Manager performs Food & Beverage Manager duties and responsibilities as required. - 5%

Food and Beverage Assistant Manager Job Specifications:

Education and Experience:


  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Current Food handlers card
  • 1 year food & beverage experience
  • 1 year supervisory experience
  • 21 years of age


  • Culinary degree
  • Completion of Sycuan's Supervisory Certificate Program

Skills and Knowledge:


  • Ability to prepare a wide range of food products
  • Ability to create recipes and menus
  • Ability to work a variety of shifts
  • Ability to apply creative concepts to food preparation and presentations
  • Ability to communicate effectively with guests and team members
  • Ability to provide leadership and guidance to staff
  • Ability to prioritize and perform multiple tasks and assignments
  • Working knowledge of MS Word and Excel
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and composure
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal directives and written directions
  • Ability to accept constructive criticism
  • Ability to communicate effectively in the English language
  • Ability to routinely lift and carry up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to stand and walk for up to eight hours at a time
  • Ability to bend, stoop, push and pull
