You will contribute to the design and synthesis of bioconjugates and development of conjugation protocol. As part of the GI Chemistry Team, you will report to the Senior Scientist, Medicinal Chemistry and work with the Gastroenterology Drug Discovery Unit (GI DDU), driving deliverables to meet project needs using both internal and external resources.How you will contribute:

  • Manage bioconjugation efforts internally and at external contract research organizations (CROs) including project tracking, building chemistry plans, compound management, troubleshooting, evaluation and analysis of data.
  • Develop and optimize conjugation protocols using novel chemistries and technologies.
  • Drive and contribute to the bioconjugation function for one or more drug discovery projects, working in close collaboration with partners including in vitro and in vivo pharmacology, computational chemistry, DMPK, structural biology and other key functions.
  • Manage external partners to ensure deliverables meet project needs and timelines.
  • Demonstrate excellent organizational skills to support the achievement of key goals under strict timelines.Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
    • Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry / Biochemistry / Chemical Biology or other relevant discipline
    • MS with 6+ years experience, or
    • BS with 8+ years experience
    • Experience in the design, synthesis, purification and characterization of protein bioconjugates.
    • Experience with antibody, oligonucleotide and/or peptide bioconjugation, including dye conjugation, is preferable.
    • Experience in one or more of the following protein characterization / purification techniques: ultraviolet spectroscopy (UV), ion exchange (IEX), size exclusion (SEC), hydrophobic interaction chromatography (HIC), reversed-phase HPLC (RP-HPLC), liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) and gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE); additional oligonucleotide and peptide purification experience is also desirable.
    • Experience with bioconjugate SAR (linker optimization, potency, stability), protein / antibody drug discovery and targeted delivery desirable.
    • Up-to-date knowledge of the field and key technology advancements preferable.What Takeda can offer you:
