Description Job Description: Leidos is currently seeking a
Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD)
Telecommunications Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support a team of
engineers developing the internal and external telecom design for a
new state-of-the-art utility control center in the Northwest of the
USA. We are looking for a SME with experience in developing,
deploying, testing, operating, and supporting infrastructures for
telecommunication systems. The focus of this work is on disciplines
that form the physical basis of a large-scale enterprise
communications network such as the structural cabling for fiber,
copper, and coaxial lines, inside and outside plant,
telecommunication towers, aerial and underground duct banks,
conduits, cable terminations, splicing, cross-connecting, and
patching, equipment racking and mounting, power distribution
systems, grounding, power safety systems and facility surge
protection. The position requires a strong understanding of the
operational principles and practices of wired and wireless
communications technologies. It also requires a strong knowledge of
all applicable standards, codes, and rules that regulate practical
implementation of critical communications infrastructures within
new and existing facilities. Your ability to work collaboratively
with a team of people from across multiple organizations will be
crucial for success. This position will be responsible for
assisting in the design and review of complex telecom circuit
interconnections, rack, and cable tray/raceway design, jackfield
and patch panel (fiber and copper) design, and cable management.
You will assist in reviewing and analyzing design plans,
specifications, and calculations for constructability, and
technical sufficiency and adequacy. Responsibilities include:
Performing communication system design and construction analysis
for new control center building at customer location Review
customer as-built drawings for existing control center QA/QC of
deliverable design drawings and other customer documentation.
Support identification of required customer drawings and documents
deliverables (e.g., types, quantities) Support identification of
applicable codes and standards for cabling infrastructure both
inside and outside the control center facility Support circuit
management tracking through carrier ingress through telecom wiring
blocks and patch panels into transport, network, and TDM telecom
equipment Monitoring construction design, reviewing submittals, and
former facilities as-built drawings Participating in developing
design approaches for telecommunications components and
communicating them to engineering and drafting teams for conversion
into documentation packages. Participating in design review cycles
and addressing comments. Ensuring compliance with contract plans
and specifications Support design of outside plant fiber runs
between existing and new facilities using existing campus duct
banks and new fiber conduit laid through open trench or boring
techniques Coordinating designs with the project and customer staff
Attending meetings as required for projects or
investigative/project development tasks including design reviews
Support development of Requests for Information (RFI) when needed
Basic Qualifications Bachelors degree with 8() plus years
experience with inside plant operation and outside plant design
experience, installation, testing, and repair of telecommunications
equipment and systems Registered BICSI Registered Communications
Distribution Design (RCDD) with 8 or more years of prior relevant
experience Experience working with the following:Design of ducts
and conduits, fiber and copper cable selection and routing, and
terminating, testing, splicing, of copper, coaxial, and fiber optic
cabling Design of outside and inside plant copper and fiber
cabling, fiber optic modems, fiber multiplex equipment, fiber patch
panels, analog and digital copper patch panels, main and
intermediate distribution frames, lightning protection, and
supporting ground and power connections. Design layout of cabinets,
cable ladder and rack systems, and equipment components in the
cabinets Must be able to perform a site survey of a control center
and the surroundings areas Must be a U.S. citizen Must pass a
customer security assessment Preferred Qualifications: Experience
in Project Management Registered BICSI Registered Communications

Pay Range $84,500.00 - $130,000.00 - $175,500.00The Leidos pay
range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a
guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered
in extending an offer include (but are not limited to)
responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge,
skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with
market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other
