SummaryPerform a wide variety of complex and critical laboratory
tests and inspections on products, raw materials and process
consumables. Conduct tests and inspections to include, but not
limited to mechanical, metallugical, chemical, spectographic,
electrical, corrosion and surface roughness. Record and evaluate
data. Analyze results and recommend possible improvements to
products. Assist and instruct other employees within the
laboratory. Recommend laboratory test equipment and facility
requirements. Primary Duties and Responsibilities1. Plan and
perform a wide variety of complex and critical laboratory tests
that are prescribed in job traveler instructions and operation
procedures. Use a variety of laboratory instruments to evaluate
products, raw materials and process consumables for adherence to
company and customer quality standards. 2. Receive and evaluate
startup, rework and developmental samples to ensure compliance with
company and customer quality standards. 3. Set up and adjust
laboratory instruments mechanically and electrically. 4. Prepare,
organize and maintain necessary samples, forms, documentation and
trend charts in support of the laboratory function. Prepare samples
and purchase requisitions for sending samples to outside testing
laboratories. Coordinate the training of other employees performing
laboratory testing, and ensure tests are conducted in an efficient,
effective and safe manner. Resolve complex technical problems for
employees. Clean and perform minor maintenance on laboratory
equipment such as lubrication and calibration to ensure that
instruments are in proper working condition. Participate in
training/courses within the NDT and general inspection disciplines.
10. Perform other duties as assigned. Education: High school
diploma or equivalent Experience: Complete qualification as a
Quality Technician or relevant experience as determined by
management. Certification: Refer to "Quality Personnel
Qualification Matrix" Knowledge: Knowledge of company quality
requirements and manualsKnowledge of the various laboratory testing

Abilities: Operate required laboratory testing equipment including
but not limited to: microscopes, hardness testing equipment and
tensile testing machinePerform required tests including but not
limited to: tensile, hardness, micro-hardness, flare, bend,
nondestructive, chemical and magnetic testingMeasure to close
tolerances requiring sensitive touch and judgmentVisually and
dimensionally inspect products and parts for defectsOrganize and
prioritize work and make appropriate decisionsOperate a computer
work station and related hardware and softwareWork in a production
oriented environmentWork effectively with customers and company
personnelWork under frequently changing prioritiesMaintain mental
